Have you decided to switch to a soft mode of transport and opted for an electric scooter? Read our guide to choosing your next ride!

As the old sage says:

"Think about the use of the scooter thou shalt".

When you say electric scooter, with your hair blowing in the wind (but under a helmet!), you say ... battery.

The battery will be important in the choice of the model, because it defines the autonomy of your electric scooter and thus your freedom. So if you only want to make short journeys (fetching bread in style rather than walking, for example) then you can go for an entry-level model, with a relatively small battery. If you want to eat more asphalt and eat up the tarmac, then you'll probably want to pay more attention to comfort, which goes hand in hand with a larger battery (expressed in Wh).

Similarly, a survey of the route you intend to take on an electric scooter will give you an idea of the motor power and the type of electric scooter that will be suitable. Do you have a flat route, in the city centre, on a cycle track? Then a scooter with a 350 or 500 W motor will be sufficient. Do you have hills? Then a powerful motor or even a dual-motor scooter is best.

Depending on the quality of the road, don't hesitate to consider the suspension, which will provide a certain comfort. The tyre will also be a criterion of choice, and you will have to choose between several schools: inner tube, solid tyre, tubeless...

Do you want to give up your car and make your electric scooter your new best friend? This means travelling in all weathers and in all conditions. Comfort will therefore be a key factor in your choice: dual suspension, wide tyres, etc.

Finally, the last point of control and choice, a criterion that we could have put first: the price. With a range from 150€ to more than 6000€, there is something for every taste (and every budget)

Last but not least: the relationship to the law. It is therefore vital to check that your electric scooter is compatible with the EDPM law. If it is not, you will not be able to insure it, which is mandatory in France! Also remember to bring a helmet, a pair of gloves and reflective accessories.
